Required Supplies/Materials

This is an online course and you will need regular access to the internet on a working personal computer. Assignments and homework can be submitted in pdf, but the instructor prefers MS Word format, you will need access to a MS word program.

Necessary Technologies 

Home Computer or Laptop. You will need a computer so that you can effectively write assignments and papers. If you do not have a home computer or laptop, you should contact student services and/or the LCO College Library for computer use hours and restrictions. Internet connection (DSL, LAN, or cable connection desirable)

Access to Canvas or other Learning Management Systems

Note: Not having computers or Internet at home is NOT an excuse to be late with homework. Your education is your responsibility. We strongly encourage you to schedule time to make use of the resources provided for students to complete your studies in a timely manner

Course Description: Students will develop understanding of how organizational behavior including interpersonal dynamics, leadership, organizational design, and organizational culture.

The Lac Courte Oreilles Ojibwe Community College mission is to provide Anishinaabe communities with post-secondary curriculum and continuing education while advancing the language, culture, and history of the Ojibwe.

 

In order to adhere to the college's mission statement, this course will incorporate Ojibwe Language, Culture, and History into class activities wherever possible. These activities have been included in the class schedule.

 

 

Overall Course Objectives

Understand the role of the supply chain in the volatile global economy.

Be able to explain the role of distribution and logistics in the supply chain.

Become familiar with process improvement methods such as Lean theory and kaizens. Have a basic knowledge of improvement tools. (white belt).

Be able to describe the importance of the supply chain in customer service.

Grading at LCOOCC is based on your level of achievement on papers, projects and examinations. The level of proficiency achieved will be indicated by the following letter grades for each academic level. Please refer to the Student Handbook for additional data.

Attendance Policy: 

BUS 501 does not count attendance as part of the grade since it is an online course. However, attendance is recorded for financial aid, student support services, and other school related functions. Your submission of weekly assignments (or participation in group discussions) count towards your attendance. If you miss an assignment, you may be marked absent. If you would like to be marked "Present" for class but have not completed the assignment, contact the instructor in Canvas indicating that you are in class.

Note: Students who fail to make Academic Progress (minimum GPA) or meet the Pace of Progression (completing at least 67% of courses) standards may be placed on Financial Aid Probation. Please refer to the current Student Handbook, for the Class Attendance Policy. Students should show significant activity and a presence in the online classroom at least four (4) days per week.

Outside of Class Study Expectations

Students should plan on up to 6 hours of study outside of class each week for this course. The US Department of Education and the Higher Learning Commission have the expectation that students should be working approximately two hours of outside of class for each credit of instruction.

Students are to maintain a high level of ethics and morals in all classes. This means that students will not intentionally cheat, copy, or otherwise misrepresent work products they present to the instructor for grading. This includes all assignments, test, projects, papers, etc. Students’ responsibilities include an honest attempt “to learn” the material through the deliverables assigned and presented in class (Canvas, lectures, etc.). Please refer to the current Student Handbook for Academic Misconduct and Plagiarism.

 

Assignments:

 

Students need to check the Canvas classroom for each and every task or assignment deadline. Normally for this class the first discussion post is due on Wednesday midnight. The response or second discussion post to a fellow student is due Friday midnight. The end of chapter questions are due Saturday at midnight and the cases or papers are due Sunday at midnight.  (All CDT) There are exceptions, so again look at all deadlines in the classroom.

 

Late assignments will not be allowed under almost all circumstances, unless due to a documented emergency.  Late assignments, papers, cases will get a reduced grade penalty to be solely determined by the instructor. Only the instructor will determine or give permission if the assignment can be made up.

 

This is a graduate course and students must take their work and deadlines very seriously.

 

Late discussion posts cannot be made up.

 

Some of the lateness penalties, but not all, are built into the rubric.

 

Work due dates are in Canvas. This is an online course and assignments can be done in advance if needed, if a student needs to plan ahead.

 

Extra credit or makeup work is not permitted.

 

Reading Assignments:

You will be expected to complete any assigned readings and any pre-work before the Canvas due date to complete work.

Mid-term and Final Examinations

In order to receive credit for the mid-term or final grade, exams must be taken on the designated day on line during Mid-Term Exam week or Final Exam week unless prior arrangements have been made with your instructor.

All students receive an lco.edu email account for the duration of the semester. In order to comply with FERPA (Family Education Rights and Privacy Act), all official notifications about your courses, Canvas, financial aid, and student evaluations must be sent through your lco.edu email account. You can access your lco.edu email account from any browser.
