Course Description: This course provides an introduction to the teaching profession. An overview of the conceptual framework, mission and goals, admission requirements, and competencies the the program will be presented. Wisconsin teaching standards, behavior management techniques, learning theories and types of assessments will be reviewed. The practice of differentiation and growth mindset will also be discussed. There will be on-site classroom observations and practice.
Pre-requisites: ECE 101 Introduction to Early Childhood
This course is required for: Bachelor of Science – Elementary Education
Course Specific Outcomes: Students will get an overview of the elementary classroom and put into practice some of the strategies and philosophies to use in the classroom
General Education Program Outcomes: Students will become familiar with the foundations and practices of an elementary classroom.
